In 2009, the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences (SCAS) launched its International Summer School in Affective Sciences (ISSAS). The goal of ISSAS is to train the current doctoral and postdoctoral researchers working on affect-related phenomena from a number of theoretical and methodological orientations, and contribute to the firm establishment and continued existence of the affective sciences as an interdisciplinary field.

The ISSAS is a yearly event, with an enduring structure and dedication to scientific excellence, but with a different theme every year. Following the great success of 2009, we are pleased to announce that the second of these annual events will take place from August 23rd to September 1st, 2010 at the Chateau de Bossey, an 18th-century château located in an outstanding natural environment overlooking Lake Geneva and the French Alps.

This year the central topic of the summer school is "Emotion Regulation and Management", organized by the SCAS in collaboration with the ESF ECRP project "Emotion regulation". The emphasis will be placed on multilevel and interdisciplinary perspectives.

The program and its hands-on orientation make ISSAS 2010 highly attractive to young researchers from different disciplines. In addition to focused presentations of the state of the art by leading researchers in several fields, students will enjoy an opportunity to form strong professional ties with each other, as well as with the invited faculty members. They can use these contacts with recognized scientists and with their future colleagues to build a substantial scientific network for themselves even at an early stage in their careers.
